“Miden Agan” has been recognized both locally and internationally, not only by thousands of satisfied customers, but also by world-renowned tourist guides that have mentioned the quality of its products and services (Lonely Planet, Rough Guide, National Geographic) as well as by some of the most important international media such as the BBC that has included it in a tribute to Crete, since the very first years of its establishment.
Miden Agan has welcomed distinguished names from the Greek and international wine map, at official wine tasting events that he has organized since 2002, both at in the wine cellar and at the Center for Mediterranean Architecture up to 2006.
It has offered a great deal in developing a wine culture in Crete, since it had the inspiration for and was the organizer of a most important institution going strong since the year 2007, Oinokritika – Cretan Annual Wine Exhibition, which promoted Cretan vineyards through its indigenous varieties and created a landmark in the rebirth of Cretan Wines.
Oinokritika – WINE from CRETE Annual Event (Pancretan Cultural Event on wine, offering a wine exhibition of local wineries from around the island presenting their different labels – Cretan Wineries Network as well as independent wine makers together with newcomers) have a cultural, educational and informational nature and have always strived to elevate Cretan Wines as well as bringing all local producers but also those involved in wine in Crete together giving them opportunities for togetherness and extroversion.
Miden Agan, Premium Wine Shop in the heart of the old town of Chania, which was founded in 2001, has hosted the Wine Center of Crete since 2013: It is an urban educational and gastronomic point of acquaintance with the quality Cretan vineyard.
The founders of Miden Agan created this unique space with a clear goal: to attract the attention of both local residents and visitors to the island.
1) to the indigenous grape varieties of Crete,
2) to the wines produced from vines cultivated in Crete
3) to share the experience of the power of identity and taste of the excellent wines produced by both small and large wineries of the island.

Wines from all over Crete, all the native, autochthonous varieties: Vidiano, Moschato Spinas, Thrapsathiri, Malvasia, Vilana, Dafni, Liatiko, Romeiko, Kotsifali, Mantilari and others, the authentic characteristics of Cretan wine, the authentic terroir of each region, the uniqueness of each variety and its various versions, the traditions that make Cretan wine so unique, but also its prospects, are the subject of research and presentation of the Wine Center of Crete hosted in Miden Agan, through a journey that includes knowledge, varieties, history.
Here, at the Wine Center of Crete,in the “heart” of the old town of Chania near the Venetian Harbor, tasting is treated as an educational experience, designed to combine enjoyment with knowledge, which is the conscious philosophy of the place. Guests can participate by reservation in carefully curated tasting experiences.
