June

The sixth month of the year is June known from tradition and as a reaper because this month the grains were ripening.

Characteristic this month is the feast of Ai Giannis on June 24, for this and June is called “Aegiannitis”, then “Klidonas” is celebrated.

On June 24  the sun begins its summer journey to the southern hemisphere until December 24.

During all this time in the northern hemisphere from June 24 the days start to get shorter and the nights get bigger.

For the Romans on the first day of this month, Goddess Hera was celebrated and the month took its name from her Latin name.

June is the last month of school, classes are over and summer vacations begin.
